Urja as an umbrella or group of companies has four verticals and special business units (SBUs) under its ecosystem. The subsidiaries are primarily the service provider companies, and the SBUs are the individual RE project companies. Through these companies, the Urja group envisions harnessing 1 GW (1000 MW) of carbon-neutral energy by 2030, contributing towards the Government of Nepal’s longer-term aim of generating all of its electricity from renewable sources, particularly hydropower and solar photovoltaics PV (photovoltaics). Already established a portfolio of hydropower projects with a cumulative installed capacity (CIC) of over 400 MW with two hydropower plants in operations and others in various phases of development, the group is further expanding the generation mix with other types of resources.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Officer to join our Information Technology team and contribute to our company’s success.

Job Description

As an IT Officer at Urja Developers, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems and infrastructure. You will be responsible for providing technical support to our employees, managing and maintaining our hardware and software assets, and assisting with IT projects and initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support
    • Provide day to day technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues.
    • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving network and connectivity problems.
    • Offer guidance and training to employees on IT-related matters.
    • Multiple project site visit as require.
  • Infrastructure Management:
    • Maintain and upgrade hardware components, including servers, workstations, EPABX, CCTV and peripherals.
    • Monitor and manage network devices, ensuring high availability and performance.
    • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
    • Maintain and frequently update multiple websites.
  • Software Administration:
    •   Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems.
    • Ensure software licenses are up-to-date and compliant.
    • Manage user accounts and access permissions.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
    • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
    • Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging threats.

Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of IT assets, configurations, and inventory.
    • Prepare and submit reports on IT activities, performance, and incidents.
    • Document IT processes and procedures for reference.
  • Project Support:
    • Collaborate with Site Project team members on various IT requirements, including system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
    • Assist in researching and recommending new technologies and solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience (2-4 Years) as an IT Officer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Experience in MS Exchange Admins.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols.
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant industry standard certifications like CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, Office 365 Certified, Azure Administrator Certified, is a plus.
